Datca - Bozburun Yacht Charter,


Datca is a small seaside town with its own municipality in the Marmaris district in southwestern Turkey. Datca is situated on the Bozburun Peninsula, which extends west of the town of Marmaris and has numerous bays and coastal inlets, most of the region is un-inhabited and covered with vegetation such as red pine, sandalwood, sweet gum trees and Datca palm tress, apart from a handful of small villages and towns, most closely situated along the coastline. 

Archaeological and historical sites are protected as are many of the national natural areas of outstanding beauty. Due to the quiet secluded nature of this region, yacht tourism in this part of the Aegean and Mediterranean means that sailing in Turkey is growing.

As well as tourism, agriculture has a part to play in this region with bee-keeping, fisheries, forestry and local crops such as thyme and bay. However,
 tourism and connected services are the main income.

One of the most important ancient sites of the region is Knidos, which can be reached along the winding roads with stunning scenery at every point along the way. This Hellenic city was the location of the Temple of Apollo, the first western knowledge of Knidos was in 1812, with the excavations starting in 1857 when the agora, the theatre, the temples of Aphrodite, Dionysus, and the muses, along with many other municipal buildings and beautiful sculptures the most famous of which is a lion carving from a single block of marble 10 feet in length and 6 feet in height. 

Sailing along this peninsula is not to be missed and one of the prettiest of the southern coast.
